Simplified procedure of getting citizenship to return compatriots back to Russia

15.06.2018

A number of people wishing to get back to Russia might approach 10 million in case of the procedures of getting Russian citizenship are simplified. This idea of Vladimir Putin was supported by First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee for CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and
Relations with Compatriots, Head of the Institute of CIS Countries Konstantin Zatulin, IA Interfax informs.

In his words, simplified procedure would decrease the red tape for the Russian-speaking citizens of Central Asia wishing to come to Russia as well as for the Ukrainian compatriots actively flooding to the Russian Federation after 2014. The Parliament member has also proposed to provide the Russian citizenship to the compatriots living outside the country.

Russian authorities strive to simplify procedures of getting the citizenship. There is a special section at the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation dedicated to questions of acquiring the citizenship. Many issues can be resolved online.

However, simplification of the procedures does not imply less strict Russian language skills for those moving to Russia. Linguistic skills of foreigners will still be seriously checked in written and in oral forms.
