A draft of resolution on introducing 4-week Russian cultural heritage event in New York was unanimously approved by the Upper House of the NY State Parliament, TASS informs.

601 lawmakers voted for traditional celebration of Russian Heritage Month. Authors of the Draft Resolution-2018 are senators Luis Sepulveda and Diane Savino. Further discussion of the resolution will be continued in the Lower House of the State Parliament.

In accordance with the resolution, everybody is welcome to visit festivals of folk music, exhibitions and sports events within a month.

For the first time, the event was held about 15 years ago back in 2002 when people were arriving to the US from all over the Soviet Union. According to the organizers, Russian Heritage Month influences positively on preservation of the cultural and linguistic identity of the Russians living in the US.
