International Poetry and Song Festival of Vladimir Vysotsky was held in the capital city of Poland. It was organized by the OPEN ART Cultural Foundation with support of Rossotrudnichestvo. According to organizers, the date for the festival was chosen for a particular reason – the actor was performing in Warsaw with the Taganka Theatre almost 40 years ago at the end of May.

Representative of Riga Association Miera Kauss Yuri Kaida brought to Warsaw the memorable medal dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the singer, actor and poet. It was presented to the Russian Center of Science and Culture. A well-known Latvian sculptor Janis Strupulis depicted a planet on the medal called VLADWYSOTSKIJ. There are 42 such medals in the world. They are stored in different corners of the world where Vysotsky used to come and keep memories on him. Warsaw will keep the last medal.

The awarding ceremony of the Students’ Diaries on Vysotsky and his Epoch contest winners was held as a part of the festival programme. The contest was conducted by the Institute of Specialized and Intercultural communications of the applied linguistics faculty of Warsaw University and Klub Łamigłówka Pol-Rus with participation of the Russkiy Mir Foundation.
