During the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum, Russian President Vladimir Putin has claimed about high probability of building up economic cooperation between the Russian Federation and Japan and promised to do everything possible to make it happen, TASS informs.
He has mentioned that Japan is interested in reinforcing the economic ties as well.

Vladimir Putin has stated that the existing trade turnover is not very high and could be increased in several times.

“I would like to assure you that, personally, we will do everything possible in order to ensure favorable environment for investments and current business activities,” Russia’s leader promised to the forum participants.

There are more than 130 joint projects, some of them are being implemented.

In his turn, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has noted that the important moment in the countries’ interaction is carrying out a plan of 8 points.

The plan was proposed by Japanese Prime Minister in 2016. It supposed strengthening cooperation between the countries in the field of energetics, small-scale and medium-sized business, and extension of exporting activities.

Carrying out this plan might be important for signing peace agreement between Moscow and Tokyo.

Shinzo Abe is sure that sticking to this plan and development of the Russian –Japanese economic relations would be much more effective and quicker.
“We are witnessing the fruit of our work of the last two years – it is still slow and we had to put much efforts into it. But I am sure that we would work with more energy from now on,” Shinzo Abe remarked.
