Russian Foreign Ministry seriously concerned by aggravation of situation in Gorlovka

24.05.2018

In case the tension in Donbass is not de-escalated, it could lead to very sad consequences, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry. The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry called the present situation in Gorlovka very dangerous, the Kommersant newspaper informs.

He has said that the concerns on this topic are constantly passed over to the Western countries as this question is permanently raised during bilateral and multilateral talks including the meeting between the Russian President Vladimir Putin and his French counterpart, which is to take place tomorrow.

The Russian Foreign Ministry representative has mentioned that there is a certain risk of escalation of the conflict and turning it into something bigger.

Alexander Lukashevich representing our country in OSCE has added that the events of the last days in Donbass will become a subject of discussion during the next session of the OSCE permanent council to be held on May 31. Diplomat is sure that the fault for escalation of the conflict lies on the Ukrainian authorities only.

Lukashevich has underlined that Ukraine derails discussion of propositions in the target group and is reluctant to lead a direct dialogue with Lugansk and Donetsk, frustrating  OSCE plans. A bright proof of this is recent attack of the Ukrainian armed men on Gorlovka. Diplomat has remarked that Kiev continues whipping up the tension and does not quit armed provocations’ politics.

Alexander Lukashevich has pointed out that it is necessary to take away the heavy armament from the contact line, split the forces and means as was stipulated by the target group and start demining operations without setting new mines.
