Crimean bridge 4-lane highway opened today early morning, TASS reports. A new 19 km bridge is the the longest one in Europe and Russia. Exactly at 5:30 cars started from Krasnodar Krai towards the Crimean Peninsula. As per the project's spokesman, during the first hour of traffic more than 500 vehicles crossed the bridge toward Crimea and over 600 toward the Krasnodar Krai.

It is worth mentioning that the Crimean bridge opening took place yesterday with participation of the Russian President.

Locals, including journalists, public activists, veterans, representatives of the artistic elite, and bikers first entered the bridge. Vehicle flows have met under the bridge arches, drivers were happily honking each other. Construction workers were shooting pictures and videos on their phones while staying at the railroad part that to be open in one year. Drivers were waving to them, shouting words of gratitude.

In the first phase, only cars with mass not exceeding 3.5 tonnes to be allowed to cross the bridge, to ensure the vehicle traffic safety during the high season peak workload. Passenger buses to be an exempt from those restrictions.
Crimean bridge links the Crimean Peninsula with Taman Peninsula of Krasnodar Krai. Planning for the bridge began in 2014, after Crimea's reunification with the Russian Federation. Kerch Strait Bridge will secure seamless transportation between the mainland and the Crimean peninsula.
