Russian schoolchildren won 6 gold medals at International Physics Olympiad

Russian team has demonstrated the best results among all the participants of the Asian Physics Olympiad for schoolchildren. The tournament has completed the day before in Ho Chi Minh, the website of the Russian Federal Education Department informs. 

Almost 190 schoolchildren from 25 different countries competed for the victory.

Russians gained 8 awards, 6 of them being of the highest value. They also took one bronze and one silver medals. This can be construed as a certain record for the national team which has been taking part at the Asian Olympiad for 8 years.

According to the head of the Russia’s team Vitaly Shevchenko, this is a great achievement, which became possible thanks to the efforts of schoolchildren and their supervisors in the educational institutions and in the national team.  

The children were studying hard before they became candidates for the team. They were selected after the completion of the final round of the All-Russian Physics Olympiad. Over the last five years, coaches of the national team have made stricter preparation of pupils for the practical part of the Olympiad. 

Pupils from Moscow municipal school № 1589 Grigory Bobkov, Aleksey Shishkin and Stanislav Tsapayev and Zakhar Yakovlev from St. Petersburg Physical – Technical Lyceum won the golden medals. Other 2 Moscow residents – Vyacheslav Kuznetsov from state school № 192 and Dmitri Melnikov from № 2086 state school are on the winners’ list as well.

The silver medal holder is Nikita Romanov from Saransk Republican Lyceum for the talented children and the bronze medal went to Daniil Pavlov from St. Petersburg Physical-Mathematical Lyceum № 239.
