About 400 vehicles took part in the motocross dedicated to the 73rd anniversary of the Victory in the World War II. The motocross was arranged by the Coordinating Council of the Russian Compatriots in Ireland, ТАSS reports.

The participants of the traditional motocross decorated their cars with victory banners and St. George’s ribbons. They finished the race in North Dublin, where a meeting took place. Yury Filatov, Ambassador of Russia to Ireland spoke at the meeting. He stressed the importance of preserving the memory of everyone who made the victory possible – of the soldiers and those who worked to provide the army with everything needed. “Our sacred duty is to keep this memory and pass it over to our children and grandchildren so that such a war should never happen again,” said the diplomat.

About 2 000 people who had come from all over Ireland participated in the activity. The Coordinating Council of the Russian Compatriots in Ireland chairperson Elena Steshenko mentioned that the Victory Day was the biggest festival uniting a lot of countrymen.

Earlier the countrymen gathered at the war memorials in the Glassville cemetery to lay flowers to the graves of the Irish soldiers who had perished in the global wars. The event was organized by the Russian Bridge and the Immortal Regiment, Ireland, compatriot associations.

Soon memorial events dedicated to the Victory’s anniversary are going to take place in the Irish war museum in the city of Colon, where the Immortal Regiment exhibition was opened last year.
