There's an attempted to appeal against the Education reform in Latvia, BaltNews reports. The complaint was filed by the former MP and the board chairman of the Action Party, Igors Melnikovs.

Melnikovs marked that now, when the Head of State has confirmed the Ministry of Education amendments that practically cancel Russian language education in Latvia. The Constitutional Court is the only appropriate instance that could stop this process. The politic reminded that it is possible to file the appeal to the European Court of Human Rights only in case if all the State judicial authorities have been passed.

According to the law, the appeal has to be needed to considered until May, 20. The Bar Association can prolong the new deadline for the decision up to two months.

Let us remember, according to the amendment to the Education Act. now starting 2020/2021 academic year, education in the Russian schools will be in the Latvian language only.
