Zagreb to join the Immortal Regiment Campaign for first time

26.04.2018

The capital city of Croatia is to join the Immortal Regiment campaign this year for the first time. The campaign is to be held in Zagreb on May 8. It will be timed with the city liberation anniversary and dedicated to the memory of numerous Yugoslavian guerilla warriors heroically fighting against German Fascist invaders, Rossotrudnichestvo website reports.
The march is called the Immortal Guerilla Troops. Its participants coming from all over the country will march from the square of Fascism until the square of Republic. The Union of Anti-Fascist Fighters and Anti-Fascists of Croatia and Coordinating Council of Croatian Compatriots are organizing the march.

Note that the Immortal Regiment in Moscow is going to march along the Red Square. People holding portraits of their grandfathers and great grandfathers who protected the world against the fascists, will be able to march from the main city square right after the official parade is over. The head of state plans to take part in the campaign again this year.

The campaign was held three years ago at the Red Square for the first time. The first campaign the Immortal Regiment was held in Tomsk in 2012. 120 cities joint it the next year. Its purpose is to keep the memory of the winners in each family and give a chance to those who died before another anniversary of the Great Victory to march again together with their living relatives.
