The first screening of Sobibor to take place in Berlin on May, 9, RIA Novosti reports. The screening is timed with the 75th anniversary of the Sobibor death camp prisoners' revolt. The film director Konstantin Khabensky noted that the main point of the movie is to emotionally engage the audience.

The world premiere of the film took place in Warsaw on April, 23. As Russkiy Mir reported earlier, the Russian premier took place in Rostov-on-Don next day, after the opening of the monument of Alexander Pechersky, the leader of the Sobibor prisoner's uprising. The film is to be released in May.

The plot is based on real story of the most successful uprising by Jewish prisoners of German extermination camp in October, 1943. The prisoners were led by the Red Army officer Alexander Pechersky played in the film by its director Konstantin Khabensky.

Nazi German extermination camp Sobibor was located on the Polish territory. More than 250 thousand Jews from European countries and USSR were killed there in less than 2 years.
