Crimean Wave terminal of Simferopol International airport is launched

The new terminal of the Simferopol international airport has accommodated first passengers, RIA Novosti informed. The terminal named Crimean Wave has become a symbol of Crimea and the return of the Peninsula to its historic homeland in 2014, the Head of the Republic Sergey Aksenov said. 

The Boeing 737 of the airline NordWind flight NWS123 arrived to the Crimean capital from Sheremetyevo, becoming the very first flight that has landed in the new terminal. 

The terminal was called Crimean Wave because it resembles a sea wave from a visual point of view. It took about two years to build the largest terminal on the south of Russia. The the largest investment project in Crimea founded by government and private funds that is worth more than 30 billion rubles (more than €400 mln).

The terminal is about 80  thousand square meters. It is able to maintain 3.65 thousand passengers per hour and 6.5 million a year.
