Retaliating against another portion of the US sanctions Russia’s authorities will be driven by the country’s interests only, according to the Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitri Peskov. In his words, now the current state of affairs is being scrutinized, RIA Novosti informs.

At the end of last week, Washington posted a list of top national entrepreneurs, officials and companies coming within the new restrictions including 7 businessmen, 17 senior officials and 12 companies. Sanctions are imposed on Rosoboronexport, EN+Group, Renova and Gazprom Drilling. The ban list contains Oleg Deripaska, Suleyman Kerimov, Kirill Shamalov and Viktor Vekselberg, Alexei Miller, Nikolai Patrushev, Konstantin Kosachev, Vladimir Kolokoltsev and others. The reasoning for sanctions is mythical meddling of Russia in the American elections.

Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation called these sanctions outrageous and “suppression of rights of everybody and everything”. “That’s a new story, of course, it is rather outrageous from the point of view of legitimacy and suppression of rights of, so to say, everybody and everything, that is why it requires a thorough investigation,” Peskov claimed.
He assured that the Russian government is giving its best in order to minimize negative aftermath of the US sanctions. He has pointed out that this question is at the full discretion of the government.

On April 9, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitri Medvedev have commissioned to prepare retaliatory measures directed at supporting companies under the new sanctions.
