Kiev is openly meddling in the internal affairs of Russia, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry. This was an evaluation of the decision not to let Russians inside the polling stations in Ukraine, TASS reports.

According to Russian diplomats, this decision would entail further confrontation in the relations of the two countries stirring nothing but indignation. These actions are unprecedented and contradict all perceptions of the civilized society. Ukraine infringes the Vienna conventions on Consular Relations and all human rights’ norms accepted by the international communities.

Russian Foreign Ministry underlines that Moscow has never acted like that in relation to the rights of the Ukrainians on the territory of our country even during the acutest crisis situations.

Those people, having gained the power 4 years ago after the state takeover, provoked their own citizens in Crimea and Sevastopol to vote for reunification of the peninsula with Russia now decided to take it out on the Russian nationals in Ukraine.

All attempts to justify their actions by care for the security of Russian embassies are nothing but uncovered hypocrisy.

Calls from Kiev for acknowledging the Russian presidential elections illegitimate are also surprising. Russian Foreign Ministry has underlined that Russia does not need any acknowledgements from Kiev.

Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed hope that Kiev’s actions would be properly assessed by the UN, OSCE and by other authorized international organizations.

The day before, the Ukrainian Minister for Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov claimed that Russians will not be let into the Russian Embassies for casting ballots at the Russian presidential election on March 18. The entrance into the polling stations in Kiev and in General Consulates in Odessa, Kharkov and Lvov were blocked the whole day on March 18. There are 72 000 of Russian voters registered in the Russian Consulate in Ukraine.
