German- Russian Forum marks its 25th anniversary

German – Russian Forum anniversary was celebrated in the capital city of Germany the day before, TASS informs. This year is 25 years since its foundation. According to Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergei Nechaev, for all of these years, the forum has been a locomotive power for the bilateral relations’ development. Ambassador has expressed hope that the situation will not change in future. Diplomat has mentioned that the forum represents a ground for an open dialogue on the most complicated questions. Sergei Nechaev has added that its main task is to return the bilateral relations back to normal and the forum plays a crucial part in this process.

Russian Foreign Minister has congratulated the German-Russian Forum with its anniversary. Sergei Lavrov has mentioned that the forum has turned into an inevitable part of the dialogue connecting civil societies of Russia and Germany and that projects initiated by the forum improved relations between the countries in various fields.

The award in the name of the doctor Friedrich Joseph Haass was handed out at the gala ceremony. This year Mikhail Shvydkoi, the Russian presidential special representative for international cultural cooperation was nominated for the award, which was founded in the beginning of the 90s. Politicians and public activists receive this award for contribution into development of the relations between the two countries.
