Russian Foreign Ministry

Russian Foreign Ministry calls to account British Ambassador to Moscow Laurie Bristow, according to TASS. Ambassador was expressed a decisive objection due to the accusations made by the British authorities of Moscow on the case of former Russian intelligence officer and ex-British spy Sergei Skripal.

London should understand, as per the diplomats, that threats of imposing sanctions would not stay unanswered.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has stressed out that Moscow is not going to answer any ultimatums from London. Besides, UK is required to present samples of the chemical substance used as poison.

Ministry has pointed out that London should stick to the international law and act in accordance with the Chemical Weapons Convention reminding that this document stipulates mutual investigation of the incident and Moscow is ready for that.

The day before, British Prime Minister Theresa May has claimed that the former spy was poisoned with neuro-paralytic substance. In her words, “there is high probability” that Russia has something to do with it. Theresa May has proposed an ultimatum that Moscow should give detailed explanations concerning this case until the end of the day of March 13. Otherwise, the British Prime Minister has threatened that “more serious measures” will be taken towards Russia.

In opinion of Russian diplomats, Skripal’s poisoning became another reason to wage an informational war. Ministry has emphasized that the investigation on this case, in fact, has not been started yet.
