Cooperation of Russian scientists with the European Organization for Nuclear Research will continue. The recalled application for membership in this international organization will not influence this decision, according to the European Organization for Nuclear Research press-service representative Sophie Thesauri, RIA Novosti informs.

She says that the parties have favorable relations and the decision taken by Russia will not affect the implementation of joint projects. Thesauri has also underlined that non-members of the European Organization for Nuclear Research can also make a considerable contribution into scientific research projects.

Our country applied for membership in this organization around 5 years ago. After the application was approved, Russia changed its plans and recalled the application.

At present, the European Organization for Nuclear Research joins scientists from 20 countries. The largest project of the organization is the Large Hadron Collider. Russia is taking an active part in development of the Large Hadron Collider and in projects concerning its improvement.
