The Big Book literary award’s season starts

The Big Book literary award opens the accept of applications for participation in the contest from today on, TASS reports. The expert committee accepts handwritings and published works sent for publishing from January 1, 2017 until February 28, 2018. The hand-written works can be provided by publishing houses, mass media, creative partnerships, whereas published books can be brought by authors in person. Works written in the Russian language can take part in the contest.

A long-list of the literary award experts will be announced at the end of April. Finalists will be short-listed by May. The readers will meet winners only by the end of this year.

According to the general director of the award Georgy Urushadze, this season may bring many surprises. By the way, this will be the 13th season for this award.

The Big Book award started in 2005 to bring victory to bold experienced and beginning authors every year since then. The winner takes $50 000, $25 000 is allocated for the second place and the third place brings $15 000.

Last year’s winners are Evgeny Vodolazkin, Lyudmila Ulitskaya and others.
