My Russian World contest participant

Representatives of the two largest religious confessions – Russian Orthodox Church and Roman Catholic Church took part in International conference kicked off the day before in the capital of Austria, TASS reports. The forum was timed with the second anniversary of the meeting between Pope of Rome and Patriarch Kirill. Note that the heads of two churches met for the first time in history on February 12, 2016 in Havana.

A catalogue comprising data about damaged and destroyed Christian relics during the Syrian conflict were presented at the forum. The first part of the catalogue was enriched by documentary pictures and prepared for release. According to Metropolitan Hilarion, the relics need the speediest recovery.

The forum participants discussed measures of humanitarian support of Christians at the Middle East and preservation of Christian relics located in this region.

The participants talked over a better way to render humanitarian help to Christians in the Middle East and facilitate interaction between the two churches in this region where the tension continues.

Cardinal Christoph Shonborn has mentioned that the Russian Orthodox Church and Russian Government do a lot in order to help the Christians in the Middle East.
