Rectors of higher education institutions from Arab countries reached out to their Russian colleagues with proposal to arrange a multilateral meeting, according to the rector of Moscow State University Viktor Sadovnichiy, TASS reports.

University rectors from the League of Arab States and Russia to be held in Beirut in the coming days. Representatives from 40 Russian and 69 Arab higher education institutions will attend the event.

Viktor Sadovnichiy has shared that the flow of students from other countries in Russia has drastically increased lately. For example, Lomonosov MSU hosts around 10 thousand foreigners who constitute 25% of the general number of MSU students. MSU rector is sure that the rising foreign student enrollment positively affects global cooperation between rectors. According to Sadovnichiy the coming forum is to become the major international event in the higher education field. Representatives of more than 20 countries will meet in Beirut.
