Compatriots congratulate archpriest Chemodakov with 40 years of church service in Australia

Orthodox compatriots living in the district of Western Sydney district of Fairfield have congratulated the Archpriest Nikita Chemodakov with 40 years of service in St. Nicholas Church, according to the Edinenie newspaper.

Having graduated from the seminary of Jordanville, he served in Russian Orthodox parishes in US for some time and moved to Australia afterwards.

Father Nikita recollects that he came to an unknown country right before Christmas in 1978. A young man differed from the other elderly priests with grey hair. People of the post-war Europe were the first congregation of Father Nikita, mostly, those who were captive prisoners or worked in the forced labor camps in Germany.

Archpriest answers that to become a priest was in his genes. His grandfathers and great grandfathers were archpriests and priests too.

Father has a big family supporting him. His wife, Mother Ekaterina, 4 children and 9 grandchildren.
At 40th anniversary of his church service, the congregation and colleagues of Father Nikita addressed many kind words to the Archpriest. They noted that he managed to connect the people and create a true parish family.
