The ministry has noted that Washington reasons its significant increase of nuclear weapons volume by Russia’s modernization of weapons arsenals and alleged “growth of nuclear weapons’ significance in Russia’s doctrines”. Russian Foreign Ministry has stated that these statements do not meet the reality.

Moscow is also concerned by a new approach of American authorities to usage of such weapons. In particular, Washington claims that it is ready to apply the nuclear weapons in some “emergency situations”. At this, these cases are not limited by military actions only. The Russian Foreign Ministry has claimed that the scenarios described in the doctrine are so obscure that in future any conflict involving force can be used as a pretext for the nuclear attack on the country considered by US “an aggressor”.
