After Victory. Stalingrad volunteers’ forum opens in Volgograd

Publishing House Volgogradskaya Pravda/Kirill BragaFinalists of All-Russian volunteers’ contest “Ambassadors of Victory. Stalingrad” gathered today in Volgograd, according to website of publishing house Volgogradskaya Pravda. Two hundred people selected out of two and a half thousand candidates are taking part in the forum. Organizers explain that the number of finalists is not random – the Battle of Stalingrad on the Volga lasted for two hundred days.

Young people came to the heroic city from a majority of Russian regions and states - participants of the Second World War.

Forum is to last for three days. Volunteers will take part in organization of main festive activities in honor of 75th anniversary of the Battle of Stalingrad including parade of Volgograd military divisions, historical quest The Battle of Stalingrad, gala concert and laser show.

As everybody making a speech at the gala opening ceremony of the forum noted, it is today’s youth, who is going to build the future of our country.

Taking part in the volunteer movement and helping veterans, young people express their views on history, WWII and memory of the fallen. What’s more, the young people are keeping memory of the heroic times, of the deed of millions and millions of people for the generations to come.

This year is 75th anniversary of the Battle of Stalingrad. The anniversary will be celebrated on the state level. Guests from dozens of foreign countries will arrive at the celebrations. The largest delegations are to come from Germany and Czech Republic.
