pixabay.com'Rename Soviet Places' hype continues in Ukraine. Kiev authorities are going to rename the Heroes of Stalingrad Avenue, RT Channel reports. The City Hall deputies were discussing possibility to rename several streets. Marshal Timoshenco Boulevard, Moscow Street, Arkady Gaidar Street (named after famous Soviet writer and Red Army commander) are among 30 street names the city administration wants to change. According to the plan Moscow Street is to be renamed in honor of one of the Donbass operation militarians.

Let us remember, local authorities initiate streets renaming in Kiev and other Ukraine cities due to so-called Decommunisation law, which also stipulates prohibition of Soviet symbols usage. One of central streets in Kiev - Moscow Prospect, now is officially called Bandera Prospect, named after Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists leader. Thousands locals objected to such a renaming.

People also protested against an attempt to rename Prospect of Nikolay Vatutin, dedicated to the Soviet military commander during WW2 responsible for many Red Army operations in Ukraine .
