Putin grants Netanyahu with Oskar Schindler letter

pixabay.comVladimir Putin granted Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu with the letter of famous German manufacturer Oskar Schindler. The gift was timed with International Holocaust Remembrance Day, RIA Novosti reports.

Schindler is famous for saving lives of about 1,000 Jews by hiring them to work at his enamelware factory in Kraków during WW2. Oskar Schindler is the subject of the novel Schindler's Ark and of the following film adaptation Schindler's List made by US director Steven Spielberg.

As was marked by Netanyahu's press-secretary, he expressed very deep gratitude for this precious gift. The letter is going to be handed to the World Holocaust Center in Jerusalem Yad Vashem.

The day before Israeli Prime Minister came to Russia. Netanyahu and Putin went to The Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center to see “Sobibor: Victorious over Death” exhibition dedicated to an uprising in a Nazi extermination camp in 1943.
