30.01.2018

The Presidential Administration of Russia Russia highly appreciates Israel’s eternalizing of the Soviet soldiers’ deeds in the course of the Second World War. This statement was made by Russian President Vladimir Putin making a speech in honor of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day and anniversary of total liberation of Leningrad from the Fascists’ siege, RIA Novosti reports.

In accordance with Russian President, Israel cherishes memories of what the Soviet Army did for liberation of the concentration camps prisoners and what losses the Soviet Union suffered during the War. Vladimir Putin has thanked Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the entire Israeli nation for keeping the history.

The Russian leader has added that this is especially important today when there are more and more attempts to rewrite the history pages and when some European countries are trying to get rid of the monuments set to those who perished for the world salvation from the Nazis and died liberating concentration camps’ prisoners.

We appreciate the fact that Jerusalem plans to set a monument in honor of the deed made by the defenders and citizens of the sieged Leningrad, Putin said.

The Head of the Israeli Government, in his turn, has expressed assuredness that the people of his country will never forget the decisive role of the Soviet Union in the great victory.

Note that today Russian and Israel leaders attended an exposition about the rebellion in the Sobibor death camp, opened in the European museum and center of tolerance.
