International Pushkin competition for Russian language teachers kicks off

Russian Newspaper announced the start of 18th International Pushkin competition for Russian language teachers. This year the main topic is “Language without sanctions. What Russian language teacher needs the most: professionalism or courage?”

Around 6 thousand teachers from 30 countries have already participated in the contest. More than 800 professionals became laureates.

All applicants have to send an essay on the aforementioned topic. It is important to tell in details the situation with Russian language in the country where an applicant resides, is it easy to find a job, what kind of job and if it's possible to built a career on Russian language and literature teaching.

Despite complicated political situation, teachers from Georgia and Ukraine participate in the contest. At this point, not only teachers from neighboring CIS and Eastern Europe countries but also those from Australia and Latin America have joined.

There's one novelty – last years' laureates can try to compete in Special Course for Immigrants.

The competition finalists are invited for an award ceremony that will be held in Moscow at the beginning of September.
