Russian figure skates were the best at ISU European Championships

Russian Figure skaters won 2 golden, 4 silver and 3 bronze medals at the European Championships, TASS reports. There were four sets of medals in total. Hence, only 3 medals went outside Russia's borders.

Let us remember, the second competition day of the ISU European Championships has completed with Russian figure pair skaters' triumph.

Eugenia Tarasova and Aleksandr Morozov have received the gold and became two-time world champions. Ksenia Stolbova and Fedor Klimov received the silver, and Natalia Zabiiako and Aleksander Enbert took the third place. Nina Mozer coaches all three Russian pair skaters.

Alina Zagitova's nearly flawless free skate performance called total success. She has won her first gold in her debut at the European figure skating championships, and also snapped the two-year winning streak of her training partner and counterpart Evgenia Medvedeva who received the silver.

Silver went to Ekaterina Bobrova and Dmitri Soloviev figure skating duo for the Free Dance program that were surpassed by Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron of France. The third place was taken also by our athletes Aleksandra Stepanova and Ivan Bukin.

It's worth mentioning that Russian debutant Dmitry Aliyev has won a silver medal for the first time in his career at the European Championships, while Mikhail Kolyada won the bronze.

Russian athletes didn't experience such a success since 2015.
