The main competitor of Nikolaev was an Argentinian racer Federico Villagra from the IVECO team who dropped out of the race due to his car’s fault.

KamAZ-masters team has won the rally for the 15th time setting a kind of record among racers. The team leader Vladimir Chagin has emphasized that this victory is especially pleasant as it coincides with the 40th anniversary of the legendary route.

This is not the only victory of Russia in the rally. KamAZ-masters team headed by Airat Mardeyev took bronze. According to the racer, they were strained to the limit at 2018 Dakar Rally where completing the race was already a victory.
