Skater Dmitry Aliyev wins silver debuting at European Championship

21.01.2018

ru.wikipedia.orgRussian figure skater Dmitry Aliyev has won a silver medal for the first time in his career at the European Championships. Now the young sportsman has all chances to get into Russian national team and represent our country at the Olympics in PyeongChang, TASS informs.

Dmitry managed to set a personal record in free routine. His total score is 274,06. It is noteworthy that this is the first competition for Mikhail – an eighteen-year-old figure skater has just entered an adult league. The Russian skater lost to a six-time European Championship’s winner from Spain Javier Fernandez.

Another Russian sportsman distinguished himself at the Championships. Mikhail Kolyada has taken bronze. However, the figure skater found his result insufficient. According to his coach Valentina Chebotaryeva, Kolyada did not have enough time to restore after the Russia’s Championships.

Alexander Samarin from Russia has also entered top ten sportsmen and took the sixth place.

Figure Skating Federation of Russia should select sportsmen to protect the honor of our country at the Olympics. The leaders are Aliyev and Kolyada.
