Cuban students learnt Russian New Year traditions

vk.com/usadba_bryanchaninovyhAgriculture University of Havana hosted meetings with students devoted to New Year and Christmas traditions in Russia, according to the website of the World Coordinating Council of the Russian compatriots living abroad.

Students of the South Federal University working on the project of promotion of the Russian language and culture in Cuba took part in the meetings. They conducted a master-class on the Russian language and shared with their peers information about the most popular Russian holidays.

Rossotrudnichestvo representative Vladimir Yaroshevsky talked with the Cuban students about favorite dishes of Russians for New Year and about festive decorations in Moscow and in other cities. The Cubans loved pictures of Father Frost’s residence in Veliki Ustug (Great Ustug) and of snow maidens.

Read Pushkin! contest participants were awarded with diplomas and gifts at the event. The South Federal University students were teaching the Russian language course for beginners at the Agriculture University of Havana which was attended by more than a hundred people. The Cubans expressed hope that similar events will be conducted next year too.
