Lavrov: some countries review Nazism and WW2 outcome

19.01.2018

Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Russia is very concerned about "creeping Fascism rehabilitation" observed in some countries, according to Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergei Lavrov who made this statement at the opening of exhibition titled Holocaust: annihilation, liberation, and salvation. The exposition was opened in the UN headquarters in New York, TASS reports. It is dedicated to the International Day of Commemoration of Holocaust Victims marked on January 27 and shares stories of Oswiecim liberators and its prisoners. Among the exhibited items are documents and historical pictures.

Minister has called Holocaust one of the most severe crimes against humanity and manifestation of cruelty and contempt for life values. Sergey Lavrov has noted that today’s generation should remember millions of the dead to take every possible action to avoid repetition of such a tragedy in future.

Some countries including those calling themselves model democracies are consistently intending to reconsider the outcome of the Second World War including Nazi soldiers’ and local collaborationists’ actions, Foreign Minister has reminded. He has also remarked that the war against monuments in some European countries is outrageous. The authorities in these countries are trying to annihilate memory of the Soviet warriors fallen for the liberation of the world from the Fascists.

Such actions are blasphemous from the humanity’s point of view and defying the postwar safety, Russian Minister has concluded.
