Japan is willing to begin joint activities with Russia on Kuril islands

Russian Embassy in Japan\ FacebookPrime Minister of Japan Shinzō Abe suggests Russia to undertake joint activities on Kuril islands as soon as possible, RIA Novosti reports. Aforementioned issue the Prime Minister discussed with a deputy of the parliament Muneo Suzuki, who stands for relations development between Tokia and Moscow. Suzuki has noted that according to Shinzō Abe, Japan has to begin with something that is possible to do right now.

Let us remember, a year ago Vladimir Putin came for talks in Japan. After finishing negotiations with Prime Minister, Russian President claimed that the settlement of Kuril Islands dispute is in the interests of both Russia and Japan. The Russian leader added that it was time to “quit playing that historical ping pong over the territories and in the end realize that interests both of Russia and Japan require a final long-term settlement”.

Apart of thet Russian and Japanese presidents have agreed on settling joint activities on Kuril islands.

Meanwhile, the countries' relationship are developing continuously. 2018 is announced Russian-Japanese Cultural exchange year.
