Classical German Eugene Onegin translator celebrates 95 years

Famous Russian-German translator Rolf-Dietrich Keil celebrated 95th anniversary on January 8th, Russian Field website reports.

Keil is widely known as a Russian literature translator and an author of many important linguistic and Russian literature works. He is an excellent lecturer with a great wit who engaged many students in the amazing world of Russian language and literature.

Rolf-Dietrich Keil has translated genious Pushkin's novel in poems with a through annotation. Until now this translation is thought to be the best, and the most precise one.

The Pushkin society headed by Keil celebrated 30 years in the end of 2017. The Pushkin monument was raised in Potsdam to coincide with this date. Professor Andreas Ebbinghaus, Keil's colleague, has made a translation of Boris Godunov, the closet historical drama by Pushkin.
