This will result in conflicts and deaths of people, RIA Novosti informs. The representative of Russian Orthodox Church has reminded that Jerusalem plays a critical role.

According to the Bible, King David chose Jerusalem as capital of his kingdom. Jews consider Jerusalem as a part of the Holy Bible.

Over centuries, Jerusalem was handed from one owner to another as a result of deadly wars and currently different forces claim their rights for this territory.

Metropolitan Hilarion expressed assuredness that Jerusalem stays a religious center and it is wrong to turn the city into the center of political confrontation.

The city is a sacred place for three world religions – Judaism, Christianity and Islam. The present situation enables peaceful co-existence of all thee confessions. Metropolitan has remarked that this is very important to keep the situation under control in future.

Israel calls Jerusalem its unique and undividable capital including its Eastern regions and historical center taken fifty years ago from Jordan and annexed later.

International community does not acknowledge the annexation and treats the city status as one of the key problems of the Middle Eastern crisis, which should be resolved on the basis of agreements with Palestinians claiming rights for the eastern part of Jerusalem. This is the reason why all foreign embassies including American Embassy are located in Tel Aviv.

It is worth reminding that Russian Foreign Ministry is concerned about Trump’s statement. The Kremlin is sure that it would threat fragile peace in the region.
