Interactive gastronomic map to demonstrate national cuisines of Russian regions

pixabay.comRostourism is working over creation of interactive Gastronomic Map of Russia, TASS informs. According to the head of the tourism department, the map will be issued in several foreign languages to coincide with FIFA World Cup next year.

He has explained that each region has its own signature dishes and local drinks. That is why it is necessary to familiarize tourists with qualitative natural and delicious cuisines of peoples from different regions of Russia.

Rostourism is sure that gastronomic tourism represents one of the most promising tourist spheres. The department has emphasized that gastronomic tours are in high demand among foreigners and well as Russians.

Gastronomic Map of Russia project implementation started at the end of this summer. Nowadays, dozens of regions joint the project. All the rest of Russian Federation’s subjects are going to join the initiative in the nearest time.

The map is to include restaurants, cafes, farms and production outlets of authentic food. The map will be placed on Russia Travel website. The project supposes arrangement of tours around gastronomic sights of the regions as well as festivals, presentations and food tasting sessions in Russia and abroad. For example, trips around regions including tasting sessions of local dishes. The first trial tour took place in Suzdal.

It is worth reminding that Russia is conducting Gastronomic Weeks in different countries in order to develop gastronomic tourism. The Weeks were held in Spain and Cyprus this year and are scheduled in Japan and Greece in 2018.
