Moscow bids farewell to Dmitri Hvorostovsky

Civil funeral and farewell to worldwide famous baritone Dmitri Hvorostovsky was held in Tchaikovsky Concert Hall today, November 27. The Moscow State Philharmonic Academy director Aleksey Shalashov and ex-ombudsman Pavel Astakhov came first to honor the memory of the great singer and a close friend.

Hvorostovsky is laid in state at Tchaikovsky Concert Hall stage where he gave many performances.

Memorial wreathes and dozens of flower baskets from colleagues, friends and relatives are placed next to the coffin. The ceremony is to be followed by burial at the Novodevichy cemetery.


Commemoration's online broadcast was held on the website of the State Philharmonic's website, and on several TV Channels. The singer has bequeathed to bury the ashes in Moscow and his native city Krasnoyarsk.

Let us remember, the singer has died on 56 year of life after long illness.
