27.11.2017

RGD press-serviceGeographic dictation was written in Russia and other 25 countries of the world last Sunday. Thousands of people interested in Russia took part in the event, TASS informs.

The head of Russian Geographic Society, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu has commented that a number of Russian cities and countries taking part in the campaign has grown many times over three years of the Geographic dictation's existence. Traditionally, Sergei Shoigu wrote the dictation at the main ground of Lomonosov Moscow State University. He believes that the dictation was more complicated this year than its previous versions. In his opinion, this means that more and more people are aiming at getting to know Russia better.

Sergei Shoigu is sure that interest of foreign nationals to this campaign proves growing popularity of our country.

Dictation venues welcomed all people wanting to check their knowledge on Geography in CIS countries, European Union, US and Asia. More than two thousand venues including forty-three abroad were opened that day. The majority of grounds were organized in Alanya, Ankara, Antalya and Istanbul.

The largest venue for dictation is Lomonosov Moscow State University division in the Azerbaijanian capital. Six hundred people were writing the dictation there.

Assignments were divided into three parts, each consisting of ten sections. The first section includes questions on terminology. The questions of the second section are to check skills of working with maps. The third part of questions is dedicated to definition of geographic objects following records from travellers' diaries and passages from books.
