24.11.2017

olympic.orgRussian Skating Union is going to Court of Arbitration for Sports in Lausanne, TASS reports. According to the head of the skating federation Aleksey Kravtsov there is a plan to appeal the decision to ban Russian athletes Olga Fatkulina and Aleksander Rumiantsev disqualification.

Today it’s been announced that International Olympic Committee (IOC) has banned for life from the Olympics two speed skaters - Olga Fatkulina, who won silver in the 500 meters in Sochi, and Olympics participant Alexander Rumyantsev. The IOC said it had voided the athletes’ results.

Aleksey Kravtsov has underlined that an appeal is an absolute must since this decision is unreasonable and groundless.

Aleksey Kravtsov has underlined that there are no claims against athletes, and the records state clean test tubes without any scratches. “We will go to CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport) to defend our point of view,” said Kravtsov.

It's worth mentioning that two other Russian athletes, bobsledders Olga Stulneva and Sochi 2014 gold medallist Aleksandr Zubkov have been sanctioned by IOC.
