Kniguru in Britain contest winners awarded in London
Results of Kniguru in Britain contest have been announced. The gala awarding ceremony of the winners' contest was a part of annual Russian educational exhibition, Rossotrudnichestvo website reports.
It is worth reminding that participants were required to write a critical review for one or several books from the long list of Kniguru contest in Russian or English languages. However, young people could express their impressions in any other format: videos, book trailers, cartoons. The number of reviews is unlimited.
Works by Russian-speaking children and teenagers residing in Britain were evaluated by international jury members headed by journalist and linguist Alexander Smotrov. He has noted with satisfaction that the interest of Russian expats to the contest is growing. According to him, the contest is conducted for the second time and this year the number of participants has exceeded the last year’s number by more than two and a half times.
Alexander Smotrov thanked teachers of Russian schools and parents who helped to develop children’s creative skills. We hope that next time we will have more individual and family reviews, he added.
The best works and videos sent for the contest will be published on the project website under title Children’s Russian World.
More than six hundred applications out of eighteen countries were sent to Kniguru contest this year. The jury consisting of children under sixteen years will select the best book.
