Russian schoolkids win 5 medals at the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics

pixabay.comRussian schoolkids have brought home 5 medals from the 11th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA) that took place in Phuket, Thailand, Ministry of Education website reports.

Zhukovsky school student Dmitry Dolgov received the gold. Apart of that, he was rated the third in the individual score, which is the best result so far for Russian participants in this tournament.

Muscovite Stanislav Tsapaev and Petersburgian Pavel Arkhipov received the silver. Ivan Starostin and Viktor Zozulya had enter the leaders' triad.

In the non-official medal table Russian team stays on the fifth position. Teams from Thailand, US, Iran and India have first four leading positions.

There were three rounds in IOAA, theoretical, analytical, and observatory. Schoolkids from 45 countries were participated in this major Olympiad.

Let us remember, last year Russian kids have brought 9 medals from IOAA and leaded in the team competition
