Theatre Olympiad-2019 to be held in Russia

pixabay.comRussian president has endorsed the idea of holding the Theatre Olympiad, RIA Novosti reports. Vladimir Putin has reminded that 12 years ago Moscow has already taken part in this major event . We will participate in this festival another time, especially that many prominent theater support the event, mentioned the Head of the State. They were talking about it during International Cultural Forum in Saint Petersburg.

The head of Alexandrinsky Theater Valery Fokin has suggested to conduct a Theatre Olympiad. He expressed confidence that the Northern Capital is the best place for this event. The celebration of theater arts will transfer into a global dialog between theaters around the globe, which is very important type of interaction in in the present complicated situation. His initiative has supported a colleague from Greek theater Attis Theodoros Terzopoulos and other art figures.

Theater Olympiad took place for the first time in Greece in 1995. In the following years it was held in Japan, Russia, Turkey, South Korea, China and Poland. The most prominent theaters usually participate in the event. Apart of performances the Olympiad also includes seminars, round tables, cinema screenings and other activities.
