Particle of St. Seraphim of Sarov relics delivered to Greece

wikimedia.orgA particle of one of the most honored Russian Saints Seraphim of Sarov was delivered to Greece, IA Interfax reports. It was brought to the city of Patra for the opening of inter-Orthodox conference Voice of The First-Called Apostle Andrew in Modern World. The forum, which opens on November 17 was organized by Foundation of the First-Called Apostle Andrew.

Local population and priests met a shrine with relics at the Greek airport where the Russian Emergency plane landed. Access to the remains is provided at St. Andrew’s Cathedral - one of the largest cathedrals of the Balkan Peninsula where thousands of people gathered.

According to Metropolitan of Patra Crisostomo this is an extremely important event. He has also noted that he is very grateful to the head of Russian Orthodox Church for the opportunity to worship this relics.
The relics of St. Seraphim will remain in Patra for ten days. Citizens and believers from other regions of Russia will also be able to worship the relics.

The remains of Seraphim of Sarov are stored in Holy Trinity St. Seraphim-Diveyevo Convent in Nizhny Novgorod region.

The foundation has emphasized that Greece highly values ties with Russia, which started several hundred years ago in spiritual and historical fields. Geeks show great respect to the Naval Commander Fyodor Ushakov, Grand Duchess Olga Konstantinovna Romanova and other Russian saints. The foundation has expressed assuredness that the Orthodox relics will be met with great hospitality in Greece.
