USSR rendered extensive aid to Poland during WW2

Russian Defence Ministry revealed materials stating that the Soviet Union helped Poland during WW2, TASS informs. The scale of this campaign was unprecedented, according to Defence Ministry. The documents are published in framework of the project under title Memory Against Oblivion. They were stored in central military archive.

USSR dispensed aid to population of the areas freed by the Red Army in form of food, medicine, transport means, fuel and raw materials for industry development.

From March until November 1945, the population of Poland got provisions totalling to 25 million dollars. Polish government received from USSR about 130 tons of food, 20 thousand tons of cotton and more than 2000 trucks over this period.

The disclosed materials state that Soviet soldiers restored railways and bridges destroyed by fascists. The documents testify about provision of seed materials to the Polish population and aids to the Polish peasants.

The Agreement between USSR Military Command and Provisional Government of Poland about usage of German companies’ equipment and other property located on the territory of the country was published. In particular, all factories and equipment were passed over to Poland.
The published documents reveal the figures of financial help to Poland and number of Soviet workers involved in restoring national economy.
Historical documents have never been published before in open sources, only narrow circle of researchers had access to them.
