From now on, persons over 18 years, obtaining the citizenship of the Russian Federation, ought to pronounce the oath aloud. They should confirm that it was their deliberate and conscious choice and that they should observe constitution of the Russian Federation, its legislation and independence, be loyal to it and value its culture and traditions.

The decree stipulates a new procedure of obtaining the citizenship of the Russian Federation as well as venues where this procedure can be executed. New Russian citizens will be able to take the oath in premises of Russian Foreign Ministry and consulates as well as places of glorious fights and at massive graves. This law prescribes a special form to be filled in and signed in order to obtain the citizenship.

It is worth reminding that Russian parliament members approved of the oath’s text by voting for amendments to the law About Citizenship of Russia.
