Putin and Erdogan declare successful recovery of bilateral relations

Relations between Russia and Tukey have been fully restored, as per Russian President Vladimir Putin. He made this statement during negotiations with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The talks have lasted more than four hours on November 13 in Sochi, RIA Novosti informs.

I am underlining at the very beginning that our relations are almost fully restored, Putin has claimed. In his turn, President of Turkey has mentioned that bilateral relations in political, military and trade directions are developing day by day.

In particular the heads of States have raised question of Akkuyu nuclear power plant project, an agriculture production supplies, and whole spectrum of interaction in trade and economics, and defence industries. The Turkish leader has invited Putin to attend the ceremony of laying the foundation of the nuclear power plant. It is expected that first unit of Akkuyu NPP will start generating electricity in 2023.

The main topic of negotiations was situation in Syria. Questions of de-escalation zones, perspectives of political settlement of the crisis and many other issues were discussed. Russian President has underlined the reduction of violence in Syria. “I have informed the Turkish President that me and US President have issued a mutual statement about political solution of the military conflict in Syria, namely finish with ISIS, ensure sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of Syria," said Putin.

It should be reminded that the previous meeting of Vladimir Putin and Recep Erdogan took place 1,5 months ago in Ankara. They also discussed questions of settling conflicts at the Middle East.
