The first sensational find of dinosaur's egg occurred in Russia

13.11.2017

Skutschas et al./Historical Biology 2017Russian paleontologists have discovered a petrified dinosaur's egg dated for the Cretaceous Period, RIA Novosti reports. It is the first sensational dinosaur's egg find on the Russian territory. Most likely this egg was laid by predatory dinosaur or troodon.

The egg's fragments were discovered near Shestakovo village in Kemerovo Oblast. This place is unofficially known as the “Dinosaur's capital” since there were many pieces of Mesozoic era skeletons found in the course of last 60 years.

Paleontologists have recently discovered few other “eggs cemeteries” in the Northern China and Mongolian part of Gobi desert. Dozens of eggs left from biggest dinosaurs were retrieved in Argentine.

Two parts of a single 3 centimeter egg were found in Kemerov Oblast. Its shell is about 5 mm thick. This find is very similar to eggs found in Mongolia.
