Russian-American Academic Science Association conducts conference in honor of chemist V. Ipatieff in Chicago

Rossotrudnichestvo  Russian-speaking scientists working in US took part at the conference in Chicago, Rossotrudnichestvo website reports. The forum coincided with jubilee of the outstanding Russian-American chemist Vladimir Ipatieff. This year is 150th anniversary of petrochemistry foundation in US.

The conference was arranged in Northwestern University where he used to work. Russian-American Association of Scientists (RASA-USA) organized the conference. Representatives of leading Russian universities and innovation centers participated in the event. They discussed development of national sciences and recollected achievements of great Russian inventors together with their foreign colleagues.

According to Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov, science and culture are ties strengthening relations between Russia and USA. Diplomat expressed assuredness that they will enable the bilateral relations to revive and become stronger.

President of Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Sergeyev sent his greeting to the conference participants. Besides, cosmonaut Alexander Miskurin hailed the scientists from ISS via conference call.

Among main topics of discussion were participation of Russian-speaking community in development of sciences in ex-Soviet countries, transnational mobility of scientists and global education. Speakers noted dynamic development of RASA centers founded by compatriot scientists in Kazan, Saint Petersburg and Tomsk.
