TASS presents 100 years of Russian history photo exhibition

ikhail Djaparidze/TASSPhoto exhibition of TASS archives has started today on November 1, in Moscow Manege. The largest national news company presents more than eight hundred thousand digital pictures shot at the beginning of the last century, TASS reports.

According to organizers, these exhibited photos reflect TASS history and consequently the history of the country as one cannot be separated from the other.

All pictures are divided into twenty topics such as industrial development, Arctic exploration, space conquest, World War II, sports' achievements, cultural and political events, people of art and scientists.

Case boxes with picture albums from TASS archives are demonstrated in Moscow Manege. Visitors can watch and look through these albums.

Besides, The Main Shots: TASS Opens Photo Archives exhibition has its own educational programme. The shortened course of the TASS worker: Introduction to photojournalism is included into the series of lectures and master-classes. Its listeners will learn about operation of TASS Photo Chronicles in the pre-digital epoch; will get acquainted with secrets of contemporary news photography. Participants of TASS photo service public briefing will discuss its works with press photographer and photo editors of the news company. Topical issues of the photo art will be studied at the discussion meetings titled TASS speaks.

Master-classes of making post cards, comics and cartoons to be arranged for kids. They will take part in quests and will get to know more about photography. Young participants will participate in #wanttotass contest for the best documentary shot made at the exhibition.
Exhibit will stay open until 24th of November; the entrance is free for everybody.
