Sotheby's times Auction of Soviet Art with October Revolution anniversary

Art AktivistSotheby's auction house plans to celebrate 100th anniversary of the Great October Revolution, IA Interfax informs. Art of the Soviet Union auction timed with this anniversary will be hosted in London.

The Art fans will have an opportunity to obtain more than three hundred paintings such as masterpieces by Alexander Deineka, Georgy Rublev, Tair Salakhov and other artists’ works. Preliminary estimation of these lots reaches five and a half million pounds.

According to organizers, Soviet art is in high demand among Russian nationals as well as all over the world. Sotheby's used to sell the Soviet art objects before; however, a separate auction of the Soviet art will be organized for the first time. It is a part of At the Downhole painting dated 1925.

Besides, two auctions of the Russian Art will be opened. Fine arts will be presented at the first auction, whereas the second auction exhibits decorative and applied arts.

Among the most prominent works are the portrait of Nadezhda Sapozhnikova painted by Nikolai Feshin. Its price is more than a million pounds. Besides, the collection of 14 paintings by Aleksandra Ekster will be displayed for sale too.

The most interesting paintings can be seen in Moscow. Auction preview will be opened at the Schusev State Museum already tomorrow. The exposition comprises masterpieces by Aivazovsky, Somov, Baksta and other artists.
